While the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that traditional ANZAC Day ceremonies have been cancelled, there are still a number of ways you can honour our veterans.
Instead of being able to attend a traditional dawn service, the RSLWA is encouraging all Australians to embrace the spirit of mateship and pay repect to our veterans by:
- Lighting a candle at the end of your driveway, or veranda, from 5:55am on Sat 26th April and tuning into ABC and commercial radio for the dawn commemoration. This service will include The Ode and The Last Post.
- Have a family based traditional “gun fire breakfast”of bacon, eggs and sausages with a cup of tea or coffee to toast the fallen.
The ABC will also be broadcasting the National Commemoration Service from inside the Australian War Memorial in Canberra from 5:30am.
RSL Perth’s Commemorative Service will be broadcast live from 6:30am local time on ABC Perth and ABC Western Australia radio.
If you should miss the dawn services, the ABC will broadcast a special ANZAC Day eventfrom Sydneys Hyde Park from 10am AEST (8am WST).
You can also donate to the RSLWA’s ANZAC Appeal.
