The Western Australian Metal Health Commission has released the Western Australian Suicide Prevention Framework 2021 – 2025 (Suicide Prevention Framework 2025).
The Suicide Prevention Framework 2025 provides a coordinated approach to address suicide prevention activity in Western Australia from 2021 to 2025 under the four streams of:
- Prevention / Early Intervention
- Support / Aftercare
- Postvention
- Aboriginal people
Each stream is intended to support state and local governments, non-government and private organisations and the community to help identify their role in suicide prevention and assist with guiding suicide prevention activity in Western Australia.
It has been developed in consultation with the Western Australian community, academic experts, representatives from relevant government and non-government agencies and those with a lived experience of suicide. It considers the most current data, research, evaluation and aligns with several strategic and Commonwealth and State Strategies. The MHC would like to thank all those involved in the development of the Suicide Prevention Framework 2025, including members of the Steering Committee and Government Advisory Group, the Suicide Prevention Coordinators, and the valued contributions of those who provided feedback during the public consultation phases.
